I thought it would be worthwhile sharing my experience with Shakespeare homes to help others. When we decided to do a large addition to our house it was a daunting challenge to figure out which contractor to use. We had not come across Shakespeare in our search for contractors so we originally chose a contractor that was not located in the North Shore – and that turned out to be a large mistake. The project dragged on with essentially no progress for a year and a half, at which point we were presented with an updated price estimate from the original contractor of more than triple the initial quote. At the pace they were moving, it seemed that it would take 10 years to complete and was already at triple the initial quote. That’s when we decided to contact other local contractors to see if there was a better option.
After meeting with Mark and his team we decided to make the switch and the difference was day and night. His team was on it from day one moving very quickly throughout the entire project. They also have a fantastic network of local service contractors, with the various trades arriving on demand as needed, which helps the project move forward very quickly. Everyone involved with Shakespeare is a pleasure to work with and very professional.
When doing a custom home addition there are always unique challenges relating to the existing home and the surrounding environment. The Shakespeare team is excellent at problem-solving and coming up with innovative solutions. Shakespeare is an experienced navigator of the dizzying array of constantly changing (and often nonsensical) municipal regulations which is immensely valuable. Building quality is also very important to Shakespeare, they do not cut corners and are always giving clear advice on where there are sensible cost savings and where it is worth it to spend extra for long-lasting quality – they care about their reputation and it shows. For all significant cost elements of the project, Shakespeare would get quotes from multiple vendors to get the best price.
Since they have done so many high-quality homes on the North Shore, they have a wealth of ideas about house features to consider that add value to your home and improve your life – I highly value their advice. We are thrilled with the results.
Overall, I developed a high degree of trust with Shakespeare and would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to others.
